More MGs for the Garden

It was a pleasant surprise when scatterseed PM me to collect MG seedlings from her place. Her MG seedlings are huge and I was told that their blooms would also be huge. So I planted them at different parts of the CG ..... some of them near the fence to replace the ones that were completed devoured by insect eating leaves and another lot on a planter bed. I'm looking forward to see how they grow and bloom. So away with the insect eating leaves and sending good vibes for the new batch of MGs to grow and flower.

Moon Vines Update

I see the two moon vines have started their climb up the fence. Now I will wait to see more of the vine covering the fence. Sending good vibes to grow .... you vines :-)

Morning Glories Update

This is the batch of MGs that I got from GCS member maeyi through SASE. For those that managed to survive the insect eating leaves, they are growing well and are climbing up the fence now. Can't wait to see the red and blue MG flowers. Quick, quick, grow and grow my darlinks LOL.

Update 01/04/09

Yesterday, I found a couple or more pink flowers peeking from the ground level where I planted the MGs. They have such a sweet pink. Now I can't wait to see them creeping up the fence to decorate the fence with these pinkies :-)

Resident Lizard

This little fella always gives me a fright if I happen to stand too close to where he is hiding. He jumps up and scurries away to a safer distance from where I stand. Today I found him hiding here and sometimes he can be found up the stem of the Neem Plant.

Telosma cordata

This was found growing in the CG near the fence area. My neighbour thought that she had cleared up all the vines and they sprouted again. Now we'll let it grow cos' this is a fragrant vine with yellow flowers. Let's see how it grows!

Marigold (Boy O Boy)

I bought a packet of seeds from the supermarket and sowed the entire packet. Only five seeds germinated from the entire packet of I don't know how many seeds ...haiz!
I didn't want to give up so I tried my best to make sure the five seedlings grew strong enough to be transplanted to the CG. Now they are growing larger leaves and the last time I checked on them ...they are getting even larger by the day. I wonder if I'm growing a giant Marigold. Keeping my fingers cross for them to survive and bear flowers.

Mulberry Bush Pruned!

Hoping to grow bigger mulberry fruits, my neighbour and I trimmed and pruned the seven feet tall fella to three feet tall and almost botak the bush. That was about a week ago and now the branches are already forming new leaves. I planted some of the cuttings in the CG and gave some away to interested GCS members who wanted to plant the cuttings. Now we wait to see more leaves and flowers and hopefully bigger fruits.

Strobilanthes crispus (Black Face General)

I have this plant in the Cg and this bush was grown from stem cuttings a couple of months back.

Asparagus

My neighbour planted these in the Passion Fruit shade cover. At first I thought they were ferns cos' I couldn't see the resemblance to the kind of asparagus I see in the supermarket. Now I see skinny new shoots coming out of the ground. The ones planted in bright sunlight are not doing well. I understand that once planted in the ground, these asparagus ferns will supply new shoots for seven years! So the CG will get seven years supply of asparagus shoots LOL. Let's see how they grow.

Here's another flowering vine I bought from World Farm and donated to the CG. It has been planted at another part of the fence.

Roselle Flower N Fruits

The roselle plants in the planter bed have flowered and fruited.

Phoenix Pumpkin update

The two plants seem to be growing stronger by the day, though their growth had been delayed by a month cos' I left them too long at home without sufficient light to grow well. Let's hope that they will continue to grow even stronger and bear fruit.

Update 14/04/09

The vines are growing more and more leaves each day and they are filling up this part of the planter bed. The pumpkin vine will be allowed to crawl on the planter bed till the fruits are formed.

I saw a couple of flowers when I visited the garden in the evening. Let's see what happens from now onwards.

Antigonon leptopus (Honolulu Creeper /Pink)

I bought this from World Farm and donated it to the CG. Planted it about a couple of months ago on one part of the fence.

Update 24/03/09
The creeper has spread quite a bit on the fence and it also flowered.

Passion Fruits

These are the Malaysian Passion Fruits that are growing in the CG and have ripened on the vine.
My neighbour said that they are sweet this time round but I still find them a tad tangy LOL.
I kept them on the kitchen counter a little longer till the skin wrinkled up and then used them to make a concoction with honey and water. Since I don't like chewing on the seeds I strained them using a sieve. With a couple of ice cubes dropped into the mixture of water, honey and passion fruit pulp .... I enjoyed the passion fruit drink this way.
