Moon Vine Seedpods and Seeds

As the Moon Vine has been flowering profusely, I have been looking out for the seed pods and finally I managed to find some. Some of the flowers do not result in seed pods if the female flowers are not pollinated. The seeds pods hold one or two seeds only and the seeds are whitish and they as big a s a human tooth.

Coleus Update 1

An update on the coleus cuttings I received from Abby's Office Garden. Initially the cuttings were planted on the ground and they were doing very well in the sun. Then came news that Town Council will be building the drainage area along the area where I planted them. So now you see them in pots but they still look pretty. Got to regularly deflower the flower growing tips to make them last longer in their pots.
Once the drainage area is up, I will be using them to landscape the area. Hopefully they will survive till then.






And the plant here below is not coleus but it is growing very well too. This is also from the Office Garden.

Smooth Luffa

I got the seeds from a GCS member and kept them for sometime. Now I have the fence space to grow them and germinated all the eight seeds given. During the growing process, three seedlings were attacked by snails and slugs and they ate up the three seedlings even though I did sprinkle some snail pellets. The lucky five seedlings managed to survive to climb up the strings on the trellis. Now I wait big time for the vines to mature. Let see how they grow.

Fruiting pumpkin ...gone!

Finally after trimming the vines I managed to get a couple of beginning pumpkin babies ... but, but they all rotted away or self aborted! Haiz! The vines were also getting a sickly yellow and so I finally decided not to wait any longer and pulled out the two vines in the planter to make way for growing vege.

I know the fiesty elderly lady is also growing pumpkin in the fruit garden. I shall do my observation there instead :-)

A red juicy dragonfruit

A ripened dragonfruit. And there is another one ripening too.

Tomato vines are fruiting and dying ....

The tomatoes are fruiting but some of them are also dying at the same time cos' some vines are rotting away and some leaves are yellowing at an alarming rate. The fiesty elderly lady who grew the vines is waiting to complete the harvest and pull out the vines to make way for growing green vege in the same plot. The plot with the untidy vines look so messy and unkempt.

Hairy Marrow Vine

My neighbour planted some seeds to try growing this in the CG. From a single vine, she got a gigantic fruit about the length of a 30cm ruler and double the girth of those I can buy from the supermarket. She harvested the fruit and got the seeds out. The vine seems easy to grow and we may be growing more of this a a later date.
