Heartland Ambassadors at the CG

Twenty Heartland Ambassadors are chosen from Xinmin Primary School to help the CG volunteers to conduct the CG programme for their schoolmates.
They came over to the CG to plant at the Hibiscus Patch.

Weeding Platoon

Once in a while the leader of the elderly exercise group would bring her group of people into the CG to help do some weeding activity. All would be given a plastic bag to fill up with weeds from the garden and then if there were harvests from the CG, they would be given some. Just last week the RC chairman gave them a breakfast treat for the National Day Celebrations. I took some pics and all were happy to smile for the camera.

Auntie Lian

She is a tireless volunteer who takes care of the vegetable growing area. At over seventy years old she is such a charming lady who quietly and calmly goes about doing what is needed for the vege garden. She has such a sense of humour too. Her love for gardening came about cos' she had lived in a kampong growing vegetables in this part of Hougang for many years before shifting to a HDB flat. So living near the CG has given her a chance to rekindle that love for growing again.

CG Volunteers

We have CG volunteers and CG volunteers but a couple of elderly ladies living around the area work so tirelessly in the CG. They come at least twice during the weekdays and sometimes even weekends if they are not sick. I really admire their energy ..... Without them .... I really can't imagine, cos' the CG really depends on this group of dedicated volunteers to survive.
